The Divinity School, Graduate School, Law School, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and Owen Graduate School of Management are among the university’s six graduate and professional schools. The Vanderbilt campus is situated in Midtown, 1.5 miles southwest of the city’s center, along the congested West End Avenue and 21st Avenue thoroughfares. Its 330 acres comprise the Medical Center as well as huge swaths of land that are only sometimes used in the southwest of the main campus. Approximately 75 acres make up the campus’s historic center.
The oldest section of the Vanderbilt campus is renowned for its abundance of trees and greenery, which contrast with the nearby metropolitan Nashville landscape. In 1988, the Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta declared the site a national arboretum, and in 2020, ArbNet accredited it as a Level II arboretum.
